a family affair: part decor

A while back I showed you the invitations for Mary and Kevin’s wedding. Here are a few photos of the day courtesy of Finest Moment Photograpy:

The wedding party was a large one! Mary decided to go with two different bridesmaid dresses to liven things up a bit:

Wedding programs- not letterpress printed! But they were designed to go along with their invitations:

The place cards were made from letterpress printed coasters attached to colored papers that were used throughout the reception hall. Each name and table number was handwritten.

Cake decorated with the same flowers used in the bridesmaid bouquets (made by Kevin’s sisters- they turned out beautifully).

Mary wasn’t crazy about having live flowers on the tables for the reception. Domestic Construction came up with these instead (hand cut, hand painted, hand assembled):

The head table:

The dance floor was never empty:

Oh, that canopy… Made from hand cut circles, attached one by one:

I have never had so much fun at a wedding. Cousins, aunts, uncles and siblings spent a week together preparing everything from the programs to the center pieces. It is very rare to come by that sort of quality time anymore, since many of us are living our lives in a place other than home. I can’t wait for the next one.

Letterpress printed thank you card…

feedback loop

If you follow me on Twitter or “like” my Facebook page, you have probably heard (a lot) about the Mohawk Feedback Loop: Notebook Project. Sponsored by Felt & Wire along with its parent company Mohawk Paper, the project involved 25 letterpress printers along with their line of Loop paper. We were each asked to design and create 50 notebooks that would be sold in their shop to benefit Design Ignites Change which (in their own words) “gives youth in underserved communities a real-world experience using design thinking to communicate their ideas, exhibit their potential and take action in their own lives.” Below are a few samples of the work.

outside the flowerbox with brooklyn bride

Missy of Missy Photography was kind enough to send me a cd of all of the images she took at the Outside the Flowerbox photoshoot done for Brooklyn Bride. Domestic Construction partnered with Poppies and Posies to create a wedding straight out of the hardware store. I made a few menus and place cards that went along with the theme, and wanted to show a few close ups that you may not have seen in the original post.

Stuart & Welch prepared a beautiful menu for the day and Lovely Bride provided the beautiful dress!

Everyone did an amazing job, can’t wait for the next one!

*Original post lost in space during the blog/website changeover.

Here’s to finally getting around to my own printing… I’ve had a stack of drawings sitting around for months and finally made the time to turn them into a little more than pencil on sketch paper:

Letterpress is magic. I couldn’t have a better job.

Available on etsy!

More to come, stay with me.
